I currently have the same issue with my KDE desktop and I’m not quite sure what the problem is but I think it has something to do with the latest kernel. Have you tried regressing to an earlier kernel to see if it solves your issue?

I have the same problem with suspend in Gnome stable running linux59. In earlier version linux58 I noticed sometimes similar failure, but when I started at first to log out and after that to suspend, PC booted back from suspend OK. In linux59 this does not happen, i.e. PC will not boot back from suspend even after logging out first.

Hi. I have the same problem as well. @sterilegenie which kernel would you recommend to solve this problem? I tried it in both, linux 59 and linux510. The screen blanks out after sleep mode, sometimes with a cursor and sometimes without.

I’m not a learned Linux user so don’t expect me to be able to explain or follow up on this but changing the kernel didn’t work for me. Switching the windowing system from Wayland to X11 did the trick.

You can open LAYOUTS, click the SETTINGS tab and toggle off the Wayland switch there. Hope this works for you.

Turning of Wayland Session did the trick for me also!

Turning off wayland did not fix my issue and I am still searching for a solution.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I think the issue is with the backlight acpi video and the amd driver. Wayland is not enabled on my laptop and I am using x11 although I do have the option.

is your savescreen/load backlight brightness alright?

Now that you mention it… I just tried to change my screen brightness and it does not work. How are the two related I wonder. Is this also something that you were experiencing as well?

I am able to increase and decrease my screen brightness, if that’s what you’re asking. My only problem is that when i manually put it to sleep and i want to turn it back on, the display blanks out. It also happens when my laptop goes to sleep automatically and i use the touch pad instead of any of the keys to wake it up. I found that a bit strange
When I typed systemctl --failed in the terminal, I found that the systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service is inactive and has failed. I tried updating it several times but it failed all the time.
I think it is somehow related to the amdgpu driver, which is what I have. which driver do you have?
