You really should not…

bcachefs will be dropped from the mainline kernel after 6.16.

Will there be a way to migrate from the stable branch to summit?

If not available yet, then there certainly will be in the future, yes.

It should be easy to switch back and forth for people who want to try the semi-immutable recipe, or conversely, for Summit users who feel that they’d rather have a rolling and less locked-down system.

Does summit require btrfs? Or can ext4 users also use summit?

Only Btrfs, the system relies upon Btrfs subvolumes for its core functionality.

Well we could create an img file and install BTRFS there. Then it would be regardless which filesystem the “host” would have. Currently I use something like that to be able to develop on an ext4 machine …

That would be cool. Currently using ext4 since BTRFS doesn’t have support for fscrypt, and I use fscrypt with systemd-homed to have an encrypted home directory. Also because I installed Manjaro back when ext4 was the default.

Hi, very cool project.
Is this still in Alpha? Where do I get the most recent iso files? The parent post wasnt updates I think.
Would the best way to get this with KDE be arkdep deploy manjaro-summit-kde or using this iso?

Yes.

:backhand_index_pointing_down:

It’s called “immutable” for a reason.

Install from the ISO, and then follow the instructions to replace GNOME with Plasma.

Thank you everyone who partook in the Summit public alpha! You all provided lots of hugely valuable feedback which really helped the project move forward!

Sadly I due to personal circumstances, such as me going back to college next to having a full-time job, I currently lack the time to continue working on this project.

I have every intent to get back to the Summit project when time allows. Arkdep and upstream Arkane will continue to slowly receive maintenance and feature updates which will all trickle back down to Summit when the project is again continued.
