you are on RAID:
so switch to ahci in bios, if you are using windows dont switch, or you will not be able to boot into windows…
and you are using old nvidia:
which is no longer supported by manjaro and other distros… so either install an older kernel like the 5.4 and 5.10, they should work better, or install the drivers manually by going through this topic:
Hello brahma,
Thank You very much for your help.
I already switched to ahci.
Fortunately, I don’t use Windows (!).
Well, to be honest I don’t even know what exactly are “kernel headers”.
So Is it possible for me to stick to current (6.1x) kernel and still install
the proper graphic drivers…!?
I won’t downgrade the kernel, unless it is necessary.
But the certificates problem still exists; I’m unable to install anything,
what to do with that…?!
you probably have to reinstall on AHCI mode, just to be sure…
in the link there are 2 post on how to install the drivers on 6.1 kernel, post number 22 and 23… but first the update issue needs to be resolved so post output from:
sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu
what the exact error is…
Ok thanks; maybe I’ll do a complete re-install later,
if it proves vital.
I have already run the commands You just wrote,
and just run them again ( sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu
).
I could post the whole output, but because my system is Finnish language, let’s first
try to solve the issue other way, ok !?
Someway, there appears to be 2 files to be updated, in the cache;
and I was unable to bypass those while trying to install anything;
the packages are:
manjaro-zsh-config-0.24-2
python-manjaro-sdk-0.9-1
-about half meg total.
When I run the command;
everything seems to go fine first, the files get downloaded etc;
but then there always appears errors like:
“The file /var/cache/pacman/pkg/manjaro-zsh-config-0.24-2-any.pkg.tar.zst” is corrupt
(faulty or damaged package (PGP-signature) )".

normally it works oob - perhaps you have a very very very new 4xxx card or a very very old card?
that is normal - as you should never run your system as root - the scenario is entirely unsupported.
audio issues may be related to having both pulseaudio and pipewire active - remove all packages related to pulseaudio
Why do you want to bypass those?
you can use LC_ALL=C
at the beginning of each command, so that it will be in english:
LC_ALL=C sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu
so follow the instructions in this topic:
then rerun the update again:
sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu
Audio issue might also be related to ALSA
OP should be informed of both options for dealing with potential conflict caused by PipeWire
(esp since there is no evidence that conflict exists)
pipewire.socket and pipewire.service can be disabled and masked to continue using PulseAudio
systemctl --user disable --now pipewire.socket pipewire.service
systemctl --user mask pipewire.socket pipewire.service
I would also suggest OP stop pulseaudio.socket and pulseaudio.service to test if playback direct to ALSA devices is working
systemctl --user stop pulseaudio.socket pulseaudio.service
Hello again,
Thank you all for your help;
I eventually managed to solve the Certificates/Signatures problem concerning
updates/installs; by following information found elsewhere here in this
forum (sorry; I lost the link(-s) because of failed installation of the Nvidia legacy
drivers, and can’t currently boot my system anymore but from the Manjaro Sikaris dvd).
I haven’t investigated the sound problem of my root account yet;
sounds seem to work ok with my normal account.
I followed the instructions found on the guide by the user codesardine and Linux-aarhus,
but something went wrong; and/or it just won’t work; I’m unable to start X anymore.
I assume that the recent made Nvidia config file should be deleted from etc/ ;
(if it cannot be succesfully modified or something…?!?);
how to get the original install default config back (with free drivers) …?
Any suggestions ?
I would not like to do a complete re-instal of my system, if that wouldn’t be
absolutely necessary.
I think I’m a little lost now…
Ok, maybe a relevant and important addition…
I forgot to mention that to be more precise;
I followed the advice by codesardine And manaudio ;
maybe that was the issue here…?!
(sorry, manaudio)
this is the thread:
It’s normal behaviour. You shouldn’t be playing audio using the root account, it’s for administrative purposes not general use.
The only thing most users should avoid is running PulseAudio as a systemwide daemon
What is wrong with system mode? – PulseAudio
Archiwiki has a few examples of how to enable multiple user access for PulseAudio
Allowing multiple users to share a PulseAudio daemon - ArchWiki
But OP may only need to add user account to Audio group
No sound when switching TTY
If the sound stops when switching between users on different TTYs or desktop environments (++Fx) then the users likely do not have access to the sound hardware when their TTY session is not selected. This can be fixed by adding the users to the audio group: Users and groups#Pre-systemd groups
you probably didnt follow the nvidia instructions properly… its really not clear what exactly you did with the nvidia… did you added the ignore abi config?
from tty - ctrl+alt+f2
- or f1-f6 you can check for the drivers and for the config:
pacman -Qs nvidia
find /etc/X11/ -name "*.conf"
and remove them
I tried to remove the failed installation of Nvidia legacy drivers,
and to restore the former “default” stage with free drivers;
(for example; I edited the crub.conf, deleted x confs )
the result is a partly working system, with some severe
graphics corruption on splash boot and before launching the desktop
and browser); it seems that the splash (!?) system doesn’t work
anymore; I was forced to start x manually from tty2 to get here.

_processor is getting hot…?!
you should post also output from:
pacman -Qs nvidia
find /etc/X11/ -name "*.conf"
and install the 5.4 and 5.10 kernels, and switch to one of them, they work better with the open source drivers, since you didnt managed to properly install the nvidia drivers

Thank You, but I think I only lost a battle, not war …
So, I’ll try to re-install the nvidia drivers,
just taking a breath !
I won’t downgrade the kernel without a second try.
Currently,
I removed the splash from kernel parameters,
and with the echo enabled; I can tell you that
the boot process freezes after the lines:
"Hold until boot processes finished up "
“Terminate Plymouth Boot Screen…”
After those, I waited a moment, then switched to tty2
and ran startrx.
It seems to work; altough the loading time has increased significantly, I think.
Right now, the graphics garbage before browser screen seem to me gone.
That is the current state of my Manjaro system.
you didnt removed the drivers as you stated above:
local/nvidia-340xx-utils 340.108-1
local/lib32-nvidia-340xx-utils 340.108-1
you are just messing your system up… follow the steps in the how to link properly …
and output from:
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nouveau.conf
I ended up re-installing Manjaro Sikaris.
Shame that I already installed a fair amount of programs to my old system.
I think there is some kind of bug on Sikaris Installation program;
everything goes fine until the partition (PartEd) part;
I f I chose the manual partitioning option;
the appearing window just shrinks and goes away; and so does
the main Installation window. (I didn’t check the processes, however,
just re-launched the installer).
I managed to repeat the case a couple of times.
I did find out by experimenting; that if I chose the option
“fullscreen” from the Installer’s options; the chance to succeed
normally increased.
I must tell you I didn’t face similar problem with the previous
Manjaro 21 Kde release (full).
So I now have a working system, with the free graphics drivers.
