Manjaro Not Recognizing Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201

An inxi output would be of help to us:
inxi --full --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host

Can you post the results of:
rfkill list

Please read:

A forum search will do wonders to help with your issue. For instance:

Okay so that post you linked to involves a Dell Dock that provides ethernet connection to a laptop and I guess that screwed up the rest of the user’s connections, so that’s unfortunately not relevant I don’t think.

Here is the output I got:

Thank you very much!

This wifi card should work out of box since 5.2 kernel. But your system don’t see any drivers – maybe something block loading  Try load drivers manually:

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

and check if you have this module blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/ or /usr/lib/modprobe.d/.

When I go into /usr/lib/modprobe.d/ I see:

  1. bluetooth-usb.conf
  2. nvdimm-security.conf
  3. README
  4. systemd.conf
  5. uvesafb.conf

Am I missing a conf file for the wifi card? I attempted to do

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

but nothing happened.

What about content, is somewhere in this files this line:

blacklist iwlwifi

So, module is successfully loaded – you should see a difference in inxi output. Unplug external card and see if wifi now work.

There doesn’t seem to be a blacklist anywhere in these files.

I ran that, unplugged my external card, restarted the machine, and it still shows an “X” saying “no network devices available”. Any further ideas?

Do not restart, modprobe load module only for current boot.

If you want permanent solution without checking with modprobe you need add iwlwifi module to file in /etc/modules-load.d/

Okay so I ran

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

without the wifi card in. I type in my password. No output is shown on the terminal. The Wi-Fi does not come on. I still have the “X” over the area where the network usually is. What would you do from there?

You still have not provided the output for rfkill list. This command will indicate whether the internal wifi card is blocked. Many laptops have a physical switch or Fn keyboard combination to turn wifi on and off. Is there a setting in UEFI/BIOS? Have you tried another kernel? In the xfce panel when you right click on the network icon is Enable Wi-Fi checked?

Right. Sorry about that. Here it is:

0: hci0: Bluetooth
	Soft blocked: yes
	Hard blocked: no
4: phy3: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no

As far as I can tell, there is no hardware kill switch on this device of any kind.

I can check this again, but I haven’t found anything so far.

I have tried kernels 5.10-5.13 to no avail. Do you suggest going any lower than that?

It only has this option when my USB Wi-Fi device is plugged in.

Thanks!

The only other kernel worth checking is 5.4 LTS as earlier LTS kernel does not have driver in the kernel according to an earlier post here. Are the kernel headers installed? Is the system fully updated? There have been several firmware updates on unstable branch lately.

How do I ensure the headers are installed? I will try 5.4 LTS

Easiest is on pamac search e.g. linux510-headers

I just installed them for 5.10 and it doesn’t appear anything has changed.

Are you dual booting Windows? If so, make certain that fastboot is disabled in Windows and that Windows is totally shutdown(no sleep, no hibernation).

So this might have been the wrong thing to do, but I erased the Windows 10 partition without ever booting into Windows 10 upon buying the machine new. Do you think that could be what the issue is?

I doubt it. I am out of things to try other than seeing if it works with a Manjaro live disk, Mint xfce live disk or the like.

I have the same issue! Did you solve it @bugger2 ?

I’m having a very similar problem. Computer came with Windows preloaded, I installed Manjaro after and wifi is not even showing up. Have you been able to fix it @bugger2 @Tarquinius ?

Unfortunately, I was never able to fix the issue. I had to use a Wifi adapter on the machine.
