Manjaro doesn't remember brightness settings

Whenever I boot or reboot the system my brightness returns to 100% always, I set it to 5-10% but when I boot again boom “flash grenade sounds intensifies”, it returns to 100%
Any solution?

Hi @ARSManiac ,
Did you have set to never the brightness reduction under SettingsPower managerDisplay Tab?

Regards,

Nothing I do there changes the situation… still 100% brightness every boot…

It’s not a deal breaker but I’d like the system remembered the percentage of brightness I left last time so I do not have to change it every time, I had problems int the past with this laptop regarding brightness: Manjaro does not change screen brightness - #2 by Mangetsu

Is it possibly a hardware related setting, like an Fn Key?

I think not, All Fn Keys working on this clean install.

So anyway, I woke this morning and voila! Brightness Fn Keys (F2 & F3) not working (all other yes)…
And I started thinking, I didn’t update or anything but, yesterday before I going to bed I installed KDEnlive, OBS, Openshot & Shotcut and then turned off the laptop…
Could it be that? Because this installation was working perfect until then…
I tried solving the problem booting up with Kernel 5.15 (failsafe, worked in the past) but to no avail…
I solved the problem installing the command-line tool brightnessctl from manjaro repo, then I typed the command brightnessctl s 5% and it worked:

brightnessctl s 5%
Updated device 'radeon_bl0':
Device 'radeon_bl0' of class 'backlight':
	Current brightness: 13 (5%)
	Max brightness: 255

So, not only I didn’t solve the current problem (Manjaro still don’t remember the brightness setting), other appeared (like Joe Hendry)…

I really need so low brightness:

brightnessctl s 5%
Updated device 'radeon_bl0':
Device 'radeon_bl0' of class 'backlight':
	Current brightness: 13 (5%)
	Max brightness: 255

That’s because I have an health condition that I need a medication once per month, but the side effect is it turns me very sensitive to artificial light so I have my Tablets, Mobile Phones and PC’s backlight as minimum as possible…

So today when I boot up Manjaro after lunch, Fn keys F2 & F3 are working again, what the hell is going on?
Still, brightness 100% every boot tho…

first:
the display manager (where you log in) can’t know of any setting that you did while being logged in
… not before you are actually being logged in would any saved setting apply …

You could (presumably) run this brightnessctl script as soon as the display manager starts - or include it in your session startup script.

Yes I do the command brightnessctl every start…
Can you explain how I do the script in my session startup?

Not “ready to use” - no.

Lots of things are started when the Xfce4 session is started.
I could only refer you to those - review that list.

Settings → System → Session and Startup → second tab:
Application Autostart

start it from there - look at how the present ones are started and take them as examples

But then still the brightness of the login manager would be too high (default).

Thank you so much, this solve my problem!
It’s important for me because of my condition, now I can boot into a confortable desktop environement with low brightness, perfect for my sight…
Once again thank you all for your time!
