Manjaro Crashes with Matlab

Hello everyone,

I’m a new Manjaro User. I currently have an issue with Manjaro and Matlab. I want to use Matlab and after a while my system randomly freezes. At first I didn’t know what causes the issue but i realized it happend if I had Matlab opened with some figuers. The System will not respond on any keyboard input, the only thing i can do is to hard reset my computer. Do someone know why this issue happen? I already reinstalled the complete OS but nothing changes.

I use Matlab R2020b Update 2

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

Please read this:

and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…

An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)

:+1:

P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which CPU/GPU you have, without you having to type it every single time…

Hello Fabby,

thank you for your response . Here is the terminal output of the command.

I hope this will help to analyze the problem.

Kernel 5.8 is EOL: upgrade to 5.9 or 5.4 LTS

No swap means that if your memory is full, the system freezes as the Kernel OOM killer cannot swap anything. Create a swap file SQRT(RAM) <= swap <= 2*RAM if that would be the case.

Running a watch --interval=3 "free --human" is imperative to see if that’s the problem.
