Manjaro arm on Amlogic Tv box?

This is mainline kernel right ? linux ?

No idea about this as others are also facing the same issue.
Will look into this tomorrow
Please share more info on which kernel pkg did you know.

Yes it is mainline kernel linux-5.11.10-1 and linux-5.11.12-1. Both the Manjaro-Arm images (SD Card linux-5.11.12-1 and USB linux-5.11.10-1) have the same Reboot and Shutdown issue described earlier.

Thanks.

Looks like an upstream bug with wpa

Here is someone who had the same issue

Disabling wifi is not a good option for me. Yasir issue might be slightly different from what I am experiencing, Manjaro-Arm on GT King Pro shutdown at normal speed (fast), just it does not shutdown cleanly meaning (keyboards and USB Drive are still powered up) and Reboot does not work it stuck on the “Unclean” Shutdown and need a power cycle to turn on again.

@tobetter seems to have found a solution to the similar issue. Hope this could be applied to Manjaro-Arm mainline kernel.

tobetter found the offending commit and removed it so reboot/shutdown is working again on 5.11, I also applied the change to chewitt amlogic-5.12 branch and it did the trick.

Yes this shows that it is a problem in upstream kernel. So we might have to wait for sometime.
While I got sometime to look into the newer chainloader uboot for s922x devices.

@spikerguy,
FYI, the "meson64-5.11.11 kernel " does not seem to have this Reboot or Shutdown issue at least not consistently like in Manjaro linux-5.11.10-1 and linux-5.11.12-1.

I am getting Kernel Panic on Vim3 test. Looks like a lot is going wrong in upstream kernel.

I have been trying to get a better u-boot.ext chainloader using upstream uboot but it seem to kill the HDMI output once it is loaded, I have asked Neil for help he will be helping me tomorrow so hoping to get a stable uboot fix first and then will be looking into the kernel panic issue.

Cheers.

The reason I switch from linux-vim-5.11.y to mainline linux-5.11.y kernel is because of the frequent kernel panic I was experiencing. Most of the time the kernel panic happen during boot up or right after boot up after at the login greeting screen or just after login. Kernel panic also happen while web browsing.

Somehow, Odroid N2 users of tobetter kernels are not reporting system freeze or kernel panic, thier complain are on Reboot issues and similarly by Armbian Odroid N2 users on Reboot (in Armbian case it is possibly related to u-boot issue).

Manjaro mainline linux-5.11.y with mesa-git (Panfrost enabled) works well on GT King Pro except the issue of Reboot and Shutdown mentioned in earlier posts. With Panfrost enable Chromium 89 and Firefox 88 seems responsive.

Looking forward to a new chainloader u-boot that do not have the USB start up limitation. The current chainloader u-boot on GT King Pro only boot up with OTG USB port and without any other USB Drive connected.

This issue have nothing to do with kernel or OS. This is mostly from uboot. Which might not get resolved without support from the manufacturer.

Yes just tested it now on Ugoos Am6 and that works like a charm. I am impressed.

Yes testing it now. When we have usb working then we lose hdmi output :frowning:

You are referring to Odroid N2 not GT King Pro? If it is related to Beelink Amlogic BSP u-boot then we will be in for a long wait. There is no issue with Armbian on reboot and shutdownon on GT King Pro so this might not be related to the Beelink Amolgic BSP u-boot.

No HDMI means no display output, not a good option.

Apparently @tobetter had fix the Reboot & Shutdown issues with his latest kernel 5.11.14. I wonder whether the Manjaro mainline linux-5.11.4-1 or linux-5.11.15-1 also has the fix?

With the 5.11.14 update the reboot problem has been fixed.
The reboot or shutdown processes for both debian and ubuntu work as they should.

Thanks @tobetter

Thanks for the update. Will build 5.11.14 tonight.

Pinging @Strit To add this to patch maybe.

And what patch would that be, to be exact? Is it submitted upstream?

So Christian Hewitts tests are not correct?
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/meson?h=v5.11.15&id=cef14d5d92f14a6e282c3216c2da63e05f14758a

I have a Transpeed x3 Air box with a s905x3 chip, 4gb ram, 128gb emmc storage, 1 gbit ethernet, and 5ghz Wireless. Seems the box is a clone of a Vontar X3. I’m having issues finding a dtb that works. Seems to be failing when it tries to load the driver for ethernet. I can provide a little more info if needed. Any ideas?

Did you try this dtb file “meson-sm1-sei610.dtb”?

Kindly find Linux-vim-5.11.14 here

Try it and let me know.
Good luck.

Thanks. Downloaded and installed.

Will revert whether the new linux-vim-5.11.14 resolved the system freeze/kernel panic which happen quite frequently with linux-vim-5.11.4-1, 5.11.7-1, 5.11.11-1 and reboot/shutdown issues which encountered in mainline linux 5.11.y.

Edit: @spikerguy
Encounter 3 system freezes/kernel panics. First after 27 minutes on time (on Chromium) and followed by 2 consecutive kernel panics during Start Up/Boot Up. Looks like linux-vim-5.11.y have issue with kernel panic on GT King Pro.

I did. Same error I was originally reporting. Screen shot of the errors here

Hi @spikerguy, Update on Linux-vim-5.11.14 kernel on GT King Pro

Does the linux-vim-5.11.14 or linux-vim-5.11.y comes with the u-boot.bin (NOT referring to the chainloader u-boot.ext)? I just had another 5th kernel panic during boot up time, this time around right before the Lightdm greeting screen (meaning after TTY text and screen blank with “_” freeze at this point). And 6th system freeze/kernel panic 8 minute after boot up while editing this message.

If the linux-vim-5.11.y does comes with its own u-boot.bin may suggest to use the linux-vim-5.10.5-1 or linux-vim-5.10.8-1 u-boot.bin which does not seems to cause kernel panic on GT King Pro.

Edit: Just in case I wasn’t clear. Linux-vim-5.11.14 does reboot just that sometimes it cannot complete the reboot as kernel panic strike during the boot up or right after boot up. Whereas as in linux-5.11.y it cannot reboot or shutdown cleanly.
