Display manager settings

When I set the refresh rate to 75Hz. in the XFCE settings manager it reverts back to 60Hz. the next time I boot. How do I find the correct config file in /etc if I don’t know which manager I am using?

Well I determined I am using lightdm, but under /etc/lightdm none of the files showed a line with “refresh” or “60”.

The setting is in my home directory /.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml in case anyone else has a similar problem. As to why it’s not modified from the settings manager? Good question.

Correction. Even though my /.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml shows

<property name="RefreshRate" type="double" value="75.024675"/>

I continue to get wavy lines and XFCE System Settings shows that it has reverted to 60Hz. So I am back to square one and some help will be appreciated.
