Manjaro 21.1.0 Pahvo released!

On distrowatch, the release announcement can be read.
https://distrowatch.com/

The revamped KDE theming is awesome (particularly Bamboo wallpaper everywhere)! And the Gnome 40 update is too good :star_struck:. Thank you Team Manjaro :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Running well on my Acer Swift 3 Ryzen 5 edition. Thank your for you and your team hard work! :star_struck:

Can someone remove the test releases here:

The word “any” is a clue.

History

Previously I experienced the

...
  -> Running build hook: [block]
==> WARNING: Possibly missing firmware for module: xhci_pci
...

issue during kernel installation/update (Xhci_pci Warning while building initramfs).
And “curing process” was via AUR patch as mentioned in the linked thread.

Nowadays state w/ Pahvo pre-release

I installed new ISO build manjaro-kde-21.1-stable-staging-210816-linux513.iso (having stable-staging branch settings), switched to unstable branch and update it.

While re-building the 5.13.11-1 kernel (cause got the [ALPM] upgraded systemd (248.7-1 -> 249.3-1) update at least) and while installing the 5.14.rc6.d0815.g7c60610-1 kernel version (and the version of linux-firmware (20210719.r1990.168452e-1) was always the same (I do not know there the patch is: in every kernel version or just in linux-firmware package)) I never saw the warning again (I do not istalled the patch manually).
Again, it was the fresh ISO installation w/o manually installing the patch.

Thanks for global (for all) fix!

Nice. With the move forward from 5.10 I’ll finally be able to install it to the previously unrecognised SATA drive on my new laptop (leaving the NVME alone). I’ve had to use Kubuntu in the interim.

I assumed that this was only due to my not very high quality monitor (a Dell with 8 bit IPS panel.)

It appears timeshift is involved with the new snapshot support for btrfs. While it is a fine way to peform snapshots, I prefer using snapper and pre/post snapshots. Does this new snapshot support allow for removing timeshift and the installation of snapper? Or am I better off trying to figure out how to configure timeshift to do pre/post snapshots instead, to stay in the Manjaro way?

The following bugs.
1.No auto mount usb / hdd external.
2. alsamixer - you must manually enable front every time. The rest of the settings are saved. “sudo alsactl store” doesn’t fix it.
Thanks.

Nope, It’s because we’ve noticed it too late when the artist already was busy.

OK, thanx

A bit off-topic, but not every 8 bit IPS monitor are same: there are many 6 bit + FRC (Frame rate control - Wikipedia) and there are not many true 8 bit w/o FRC.

10 bit monitors are also not the same: 10 true bits or 10 = 8 true + 2 bit via FRC.

The only website to check it I know is displayspecifications.com but and there there is the note: The information on this website is provided on "as is, as available basis" without warranty of any kind....
So that info couldn’t be 100% guarantee also, but could be a one of start point to check a monitor model on.
So if you have 8 bit via 6 bit + FRC , and only 72% NTSC (or by sRGB sacle it is about 97%) color space usage it is not a very HQ monitor, it is very typical 10 years old IPS display technology.
Even current TFT TN tech much differ from how is was looks like the same TFT TN but 15 years ago, for example in aspect of currently wider color space usage.

@alven : My current (still)monitor will be replaced next year by another one that has 14 bits (8 bit + LUT), so this is nothing new for me - but thanks for the explanation

Too bad that Gnome does not come with Wayland, as in Fedora and although it is well optimized, Gnome-shell has a very high consumption compared to Fedora, but I loved the terminal

I installed new ISO build manjaro-kde-21.1-stable-staging-210816-linux513.iso having stable-staging branch settings.
BTRFS+LUKS was chosen (all operations via GUI installer and auto-partitioning used)).
Switched to unstable branch and updated it.

I found that saved log which I wanted to report: may be it can be helpful for someone developer.
It is very first / initial update after clean ISO installation.

Pacman's log key excerpt:
