I assume that the sound driver had said goodbye. After a restart the sound was running correctly again. The error is reproducible, i.e. if the computer stands still for a while, the sound is gone again. Since the sound driver is also in the kernel, this is probably an indication that at least 5.8 is having problems with Sandy Bridge. I’m currently back with Arch, I didn’t want the 5.4 anymore.
