Haha yes, I’ve seen a lot react like that… and we have very mixed feelings about how this would come across. However, we will continue with business as usual, and we trust our amazing Team to forge Manjaro into something we will be more proud of going forward… building trust with existing contributers and donators.
An update on the current status of the Manjaro e.V. founding:
An initial draft of the satzung (articles of association) has been written and has been send over to a legal expert, they will assist us in getting a proper founding constitution established.
We do not know how long this process will take, we hope to receive feedback on the initial draft some time next week.
Hi everyone, a little in-between update.
We are still working on getting the e.V. set up. There is a bit of a delay because we want to be very sure the satzung is well written and that it properly safeguards the interests and goals of the nonprofit.
For example, a section was added which states that board members are not entitled to financial compensation for their work as a board member. People on the Manjaro e.V. board should hold these positions because they care about the project, not to leech on it.
We also took some inspiration from the Codeberg e.V. satsung and borrowed components of it to use in our own.
The current aim is to start the process to found the e.V. within the next couple of weeks.
Hello again everyone.
Today we had our founding assembly, during which we discussed and voted on the final draft of the satzung, elected the board of directors, and issued our first orders to the board.
Its founding members are @Aragorn, @romangg, @dennis1248, @boredland, @Yochanan, @Ste74 and @simonb.
Thus as of a few hours ago, the Manjaro Vorverein (pre-association) as an entity officially exists.
Next up, all founding member will sign the satzung, afterward it will be taken to the notary to get the verein registered. Because we work with a global team and are not able to fly everyone out to Berlin, it will take some time to collect all signatures. We are aiming for the end of July or later.
Once the e.V. is registered, one of our first tasks will be to schedule an assembly and invite more regular members, and to offer supporting membership status to other active project contributors.
