Dual boot no more

hello everybody :slightly_smiling_face:
I’m currently using an Asus VivoBook S14 with both Manjaro Openbox (with kernel 6.6.10-1) & Windows 11, that I occasionally use.
Today is the day I need Windows but I’ve realized that after switching on the laptop I’m not offered the choice any more and it just boots into Manjaro.
I’ve read that after the last major update others found the dual boot broken and fixed it with sudo grub-mkconfig
I’ve tried that but it hasn’t changed anything :slightly_frowning_face:
I CAN still boot into windows: if I switch the boot priority in the Bios from Manjaro to Windows the laptop then boots into Windows. If there’s no other way I could still use this trick as I don’t need to use Windows that often but if possible I’d prefer to fix it.
Thanks :grinning:

check your /etc/default/grub

Os prober and menu should be enabled, and then update with mkconfig

thanks for the reply :slightly_smiling_face:
This is what I see in my /etc/default/grub:

GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

Just an FYI, most newer BIOS EFI firmware have the ability select which OS to boot, either in the BIOS itself or by hitting the F key that opens your Boot menu. This can at least get you into Windows until you can fix your GRUB issue.

yes, thanks, I’ve already done that, I could even live with this work around if I can’t fix it :+1:

sorry Teo! I hadn’t realized you had attached all that :slightly_frowning_face:
It seems me the main difference is in the line quoted… should I change that like yours? Or something else?
Thanks again :slightly_smiling_face:

That is the only thing you should NOT change because it is specific to you, so i deleted/anonymized it.

Os prober is enabled, now unhide the menu adding

# Set to 'countdown' or 'menu' to change timeout behavior,
# press ESC key to display menu.
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu

I also notice you use a different theme, maybe if you later removed it you should change to default. But unhide the menu first.
