Logitech H800 Mic not working now

Hello,
I have been a merry user of Manjaro for a year now and its been most excellent, however for some reason recently using MS Teams I cannot have my Mic and Earphones working together, only in the last couple of weeks has it been a problem.

So when listening to Spotify I set my profile to Analog Stereo Output + Mono Input (as it always has been).
However if i get a call on Teams I have to rush to audio settings and change my headset (installed as H600) to Mono Input and setup Teams to use my connected TV audio over HDMI.

I am an accomplished developer of the .NET stack, and am confident in Teams - so yes I have verified the settings within the app

Any help and advice would be wonderful, its not great for colleagues and clients hearing themselves back through the Mic when playing sound on the TV.

Thankyou so much in advance

David

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

Please read this:

and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…

  1. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)

  2. Is this a wired microphone? If not: do you have one that you can test???

  3. What does alsamixer show? (Press F4 to go to the record settings)

:+1:

The time estimate of 2 weeks suggest this is unlikely to be due to a change from PulseAudio to Pipewire
but need to check which sound server is running on systems now

please post responses to

systemctl --user -l --no-pager status pulseaudio*
systemctl --user -l --no-pager status pipewire*

If PulseAudio is still in use, please post response to

pacmd dump | grep -v modules

From this description I suspect that either the default-sink is incorrectly set to use HDMI for audio playback, or the default-source is capturing desktop audio from a sink.monitor instead of the microphone source

Thank you so much for a reply, much appreciated, but systemctl --user -l -no-pager status pulseaudio* gave me an error "Failed to parse lines 'o-pager'" so so i took off -no-pager and this is what i got:

[davec@davec ~]$ sudo systemctl --user -l status pulseaudio*
Failed to connect to bus: $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS and $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not defined (consider using --machine=<user>@.host --user to connect to bus of other user)

the other command was this:

[davec@davec ~]$ systemctl --user -l status pipewire*

Let’s wait for Nikgnomic to respond…

“Failed to parse lines ‘o-pager’”

I have edited previous post to correct command with 2 dashes for --no-pager

I suspect that PulseAudio is still working OK from response to pacmd command
and systemctl command likely failed because of the added sudo
but please check command without sudo for any errors

I suggest that you consider turning off either pipewire or pulseaudio services to prevent any
conflicts

systemctl --user mask pipewire.socket --now
systemctl --user disable pipewire.service --now

aha, I now have an error from the first command:

  1. In the future, when providing code/output, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text so that the output looks like this:

    instead of like this:

(as that makes both our lives much easier)

  2. No need to do anything right now as I’m an editor here on this site and have fixed it for you already. However, in the future I might not see your post so review my edits by pushing the orange pencil above the post I just fixed.

:+1:

The pipewire.socket is still shown as enabled and active,
so it will continue to start the pipewire.service

use these commands to stop, disable and mask the socket

systemctl --user stop pipewire.socket
systemctl --user disable pipewire.socket
systemctl --user mask pipewire.socket

Then reboot system
and check that pipewire service and socket is inactive

With that change, a reboot and some updates done at the same time… it seems I am working again as expected.
Thanks you so much for you advice and guidance!
