My old headset died, and the G430 was on sale near me so I picked it up. On my Windows system, it sounds very good (and I don't have any of the Logitech software installed so I know it's not that). On my Manjaro system, it doesn't sound as "full" if that makes any sense. I noticed in the audio settings in Plasma, there's multichannel options for the mic, but none for the output. I'm wondering if there's a way to enable the surround, as I'm thinking perhaps there's a DAC built into the USB dongle that is designed for 7.1 rather than stereo.
Edit /etc/pulse/daemon.conf and change from
; default-sample-channels = 2
default-sample-channels = 8
then run from terminal:
killall pulseaudio && pulseaudio
after that check to see if the channels are muted, from terminal run:
you should see something like this
test the sound:
speaker-test -c 8
