Location Cursor Jump to Random Lines While Typing

AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
Kernel Linux 5.10.7-3-MANJARO x86_64
MATE 1.24.1
ASUS A15 TUF

Hi and greetings to you all…

I am new to Manjaro+Mate and I really like it so far. I have managed to get through several configuration, coming from Windows 10 environment but now I have this issue:

While typing, the location cursor Jumps to another line in the document, this is really frustrating as I have to keep fixing what I have already typed.

I do not touch the touchpad while typing.
The touchpad works very fine.

I googled this issue and found comments to add [“i8042.nomux=1”] to Grub but that didn’t help.
Also, I saw comments about [“SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad”] but not sure if that would help as my touchpad works fine.

Please does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Thank you

You don’t have to actually be touching the touch pad for this thing to occur. Just hovering right above it is often already enough to trigger that effect. I am having this same problem myself on a notebook with another GNU/Linux distro. It’s due to static electricity.

There isn’t much you can do about it, other than disabling the touch pad and using an actual mouse instead. :man_shrugging:
