Lightdm does not start after xfce update, trying LXDM

Hello everyone

I have a problem with starting latest Cinammon Xfce. I haven't started few days but few times updated. After the last restart, It doesn't start GUI.

UEFI screen does not pass. Several times blinking and stops permanently as LENOVO.
I opened TTY2 with Alt+Control+F2 keys I got some info about the problem.

LOAD = Reflects whether the unit definition was properly loaded.
ACTIVE = The high-level unit activation state, i.e. generalization of SUB.
SUB = The low-level unit activation state, values depend on unit type.

136 loaded units listed. Pass --all to see loaded but inactive units, too.
To show all installed unit files use 'systemctl list-unit-files'.

As the summary my only problem is lightdm

So I tried something in this topic but not worked.

I undoed the changes; slick -> gtk

Do you have any recommendation.

Try reinstalling lightdm....

Thanks for help
I hadn't thought of this

sudo yay -S lightdm-gtk-greeter

sudo yay -S lightdm-gtk-greeter-setting

I removed completely and reinstalled those packages especially but everything same.

Why are you using yay to install? I would ONLY recommend using pacman or pamac for installing a mainline app.

Well, we are not good

I run across some problems with pamac and pacman when I installed manjaro. I didn't remember what was that exactly and installed yay and didn't care so much :grimacing:

sudo pamac install lightdm-gtk-greeter
pamac: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.65: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

pamac --help
pamac: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.65: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

pamac --verison
pamac: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.65: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It is interesting I think the first time I see this error

By the way I reinstalled with pacman everything same

Also I searched this error this link.

Do u agree with this topic.

Not sure if your problem is sort of related to mine. I had a black screen with no greeter, but after using Timeshift. I reinstalled qt5-base and qt5-x11extras now it works again.
Be aware that I chose from the list after entering sudo pacman -S qt5.

It looks like your system is in a partially updated state.

Try this and share the output:

sudo pacman -Syu

It may fail if your libraries are too severely mismatched.

Thank you for recommendation. I didn't take timeshif recover. I forget it. Unfortunalelly, I tried your recommend, everything same.

Yeah, It's reasonable. I did your recoomend eveythin gone well. I does not see any error. For try whether soved or not. It is same.

Here latest try. By the way thanks for recoomendation.

Seems to me that you did a partial update and pacman-mirrors set you on an outdated mirror. Cherk repo.manjaro.org to see if your current mirror is updated.

sudo pacman-mirrors -f5
sudo pacman -Syyu

I went crazy
I decided to delete completely pamac with every files and reinstall

which pamac
cd /usr/bin
sudo rm -r pamac
sudo pacman -Syu pamac

But now integrated nor which nor pamac --help It is going crazy
I reinstalled but it is not answer nor *which pamac* command nor *pamac --help* command

I tried install pamac-aur
It is getting interestin it occoures icu package request at last.

bash: pamac: command not found

What does ls -l /usr/bin/pamac show?

Try forcibly reinstalling pamac-cli

sudo pacman -S pamac-cli
sudo ls -l /usr/bin/pamac
[sudo] password for axe:
ls: cannot access '/usr/bin/pamac': No such file or directory

It is done well :upside_down_face:

[axe@axe-20aws2t12n ~]$ pamac --help
pamac: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.65: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

But It gives libicui18n.so.65 error again.

Can you share the output of pacman -Qs pamac

Of course

pacman -Qs pamac
local/pamac-cli 9.5.0-1
A Package Manager based on libalpm with AUR and Appstream support
local/pamac-common 9.5.0-1
A Package Manager based on libalpm with AUR and Appstream support
local/pamac-gtk 9.5.0-1
A Package Manager based on libalpm with AUR and Appstream support

I don't understand how pamac can be built against an old version of icu at his point.

Have you rebooted?

I haven't but I will do now
I have restarted but everything looks same

sudo pamac --help
[sudo] password for axe:
pamac: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.65: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

 pacman -Qs pamac
local/pamac-cli 9.5.0-1
A Package Manager based on libalpm with AUR and Appstream support
local/pamac-common 9.5.0-1
A Package Manager based on libalpm with AUR and Appstream support
local/pamac-gtk 9.5.0-1
A Package Manager based on libalpm with AUR and Appstream support

Are there mismatch pamac between icu but I reinstalled few times. I thired one more time but same error occours.
