libva error

Hi,
I'm having some trouble with video playback and couldn't find the problem anywhere else. Video plays back at about 1/6th the speed and no audio. If I run vainfo I get the following error:

vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit

VLC crashes when playing .mov files and gives this error:

libva error: va_getDriverName() failed with operation failed,driver_name=i965

I have the following hardware and OS:

Linux jesse-arch 4.14.124-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Jun 9 20:20:41 UTC 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This all happened very sudden without installing/removing any packages as far as I know. I was able to watch a video and then the next one didn't work anymore. I've tried reinstalling libva to no avail. Any help is reaaaally appreciated (since I'm in the middle of finals and rely on youtube for more tutorials than I would like to admit  ). Thanks a lot! Feel free to ask more questions as well

If nothing in the software has changed then it's either hardware-related or a change you have made (e.g. you accidentally set the playback speed to 1/6).

Is it all video in all applications which is affected?

What is your CPU/system resource usage during video playback? Check e.g. top to see what the system is doing.
