LIbreOffice, "save" path

I’m running on the KDE Plasma Desktop (X11) up-to-date as of the stable update of 4/5/25.

It seems that LibreOffice has changed it’s behaviour as regards the “save as” option. Formerly when I opened a file and then select “save as” the default behaviour was to save back in the same directory (IMO the only sane choice), but now it has changed to save wherever I last saved a file.

How can I restore the sensible behaviour?

I have libreoffice-fresh 25.2.2-1, plasma-desktop 6.3.4-1

Just to be specific Save As goes to your Home folder, Open goes to your Documents folder. Have you checked LO settings?

“Save” seems to redirect to “~/Documents” (for me).

It has been a while since playing with LO settings, but under “Load/Save” I can’t find anything specific to override save locations. :man_shrugging:

According to this bug report
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165917

it’s a regression in LibreOffice (probably introduced in version 25.2.2) that should be fixed in version 25.2.3, which is currently in the Unstable branch (package libreoffice-fresh).

Thanks, hope it’s not too long before it filters up the branches.

After reading through #165917, issue seems clear; and apparently fixed with LibreOffice v25.2.3.2 (Fresh) and v24.8.7 (Still).

It’s now just a question of waiting for the respective versions to filter down to Stable branch. If you’re using Unstable you might take time to console others that the solution is in hand.

Taking the liberty of marking the topic solution as it seems the OP has apparently ridden off into the sunset. :cowboy_hat_face:

Regards.
