Lenovo laptop owners MUST READ!

There seems to be a major flaw with Many Lenovo systems that is killing the thunderbolt/USB C port.

A simple firmware update can fix/prevent the issue.

More details are in the link above. Thought you Lenovo using folks would like to know.

Jesus, I’ve been fighting this issue at work for past year

Yep I remember page, dealing with it because we have Lenovo Laptops that are affected by this at work. Also, there is now thunderbolt software in the windows store that I’ve had to use after using firmware updates from that page.

Is there a way to update these drivers while running manjaro ?

To update my firmwares I use
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fwupd

You can check if your device or vendor has support
https://fwupd.org/lvfs/devices/

*** Keep in mind having a live usb ready is not a bad idea, it happened before, my UEFI bootloader order changed because of a 'wrong' location of UEFI

Thanks, i got it working, but it doesn't update Thunderbolt controller though, maybe I am unaffected.

I can't check I have no thunderbolt, isn't it displayed at fwupdmgr get-updates?

It does recognize it, but it says no update available

• Thunderbolt Controller has no available firmware updates
