Latest testing iso [Solved]

How do I install the cleartype patch?

#7

Preview builds are here: https://manjaro.org/manjaro-preview-releases/

#8

I don’t know what that is.

#9

I suppose it’s a patchset for freetype.

@beardedragon, please tell us exactly what you want to achieve.

Do you want a patched freetype like freetype2-ultimate5 or freetype2-cleartype from AUR?
In that case you don’t need testing.

#10

First I crashed my system when I tried to download and install the following:

It took out nearly everything by removing cleartype 2.9.1 and most of my other system. Too many things to make it useful. That includes all of whisker menu, panel etc. I have stable, I duo boot stable and testing. I can reinstall stable, make it testing and go from there but stable does not have cleartype 2.9.1-1

#11

I don’t even have that package on testing… this must be an AUR package (licensing issues)?
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/freetype2-cleartype

Well if you remove freetype2-cleartype, you must replace it with another freetype2.

#12

Exactly what I did and crashed. See this and following in Testing-2018-11-05:

#13

I have never tried it.

I ask before doing it.

With the same commands you can go from testing to stable?

#14

You can always install freetype2-cleartype from AUR, regardless whether you’re on stable or testing.
I don’t know whether it works though. It’s AUR after all.

And please post a link to that forum thread instead of an image.

#15

That is for mirrors. I think so. You can make it permanent by opening /etc/pacman-mirrors.conf and changing stable to testing, save and run “sudo pacman-mirrors -f0” then “sudo pacman -Syyu”

#17

After asking the question, I realized that because of problems with package dependencies, it is not a good idea.

What I thought to do is move from Testing -> Stable.

#18

Thank you.
As I said, use the AUR version until Arch gives green light for including it:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/60658
Switching to testing doesn’t help with that, because the package is not in testing either for the moment.

#19

I know, hence my problem.

then try again.

#21

Crikey - this thread started with “where is the testing installer image” then went to “how do I install ClearType patches” to “how do I fix an AUR signature warning”.

Is this solved yet?

#22

Working at it, I’ll let you know when. not LOL

#23

Thanks, that worked! Solved.

#24

FYI Solved.
