Latest Manjaro will not restart/shutdown

A couple of week or so ago - after a standard update - my system began to refuse to restart or shutdown. The desktop goes black. The mouse pointer is still visible and can be moved but then nothing. Just stops.

I am not sure if this is kernel related but as far as I remember the update at the time updated the kernel.

To be sure I hadn’t done any stupid and because the system was getting a bit unstable of all the resets I reinstalled. However, with the latest download KDE version it is the same. When I drive it from the USB pen it shuts down fine. When I install on SSD the same as before.

My system is a
Gigabyte Aorus Master X670E
Ryzen 7 7800x3d
32 Gigs of ram
A couple of SSDs NVMEs

System works flawlessly in Windows and PopOS.

I have not yet tried updating with an experimental and new kernel. First I wanted to hear if anyone else have a similar issue. A search gave nothing.

Any suggestions?

There’s a bug in Plasma’s session restore functionality which causes this behavior. You must disable session restore and set Plasma to always start with an empty session — at least, until the bug is fixed upstream. Then, you must reboot.

Thank you very much. That did the trick

Just a note - I removed the reference to ryzen as it is not related to the CPU/GPU.
