This happened on windows 10 also. When i do something like uploading or doing apps the screen frozed without any reason. I posted on tomshardware and it say check the event viewer but it happened on linux yesterday so how do i check a event viewer? Or should i boot to windows and wait for it to trigger. What causes this?
Specs:
CPU: AMD A4 6210
GPU: AMD RADEON R3
RAM: 16GB
If it happens in different operating systems I might tend to think its a hardware or other lower level problem like bad BIOS config.
I suppose its possible that some configuration applied in both softwares could be to blame like OS-based under or overclocking.
As to looking in the logs … journalctl
is likely at least part of where you might look.
But heres a link for ‘general troubleshooting’;

@LinuxPersuasive, do not start new threads about the same topic. I have merged both of your threads.
So is this an XFCE system that had budgie things added to it?
Have other kernels been tried?
Especially with such old hardware it might make sense to aim lower.
This isnt easy to look up … but do you have the latest BIOS?
Looks like you are currently using the legacy radeon driver but may be able to use the modern amdgpu.
