Laptop Overheating and Freezing When Lid Closed

After reading a few similar threads, I thought it may be more helpful to start a new one rather than to try and piggy back on someone else.

I’ve been running Manjaro Gnome for more than a year with very little problems ever. However, most recently when I close my laptop lid my computer often freezes to a black screen with the mouse cursor still visible but not responsive. The fans usually kick up and the laptop case get quite hot.

In these cases, the only way I can get a response is to force power off and reboot. That usually works, except yesterday it took 3 reboots before it started up again.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Here’s more system information:

Can you upload the relevant systemd logs containing the standby attempt?

I’m very sorry for the delay, work was a bit busy. I believe this is what you’re asking for, please let me know if not. I didn’t include yesterday’s information as it added something like 6000 lines!

Oct 06 10:48:20 irish-sager-np6852 systemd-logind[1001]: Lid opened.

You need to include all lines between lid closed and lid opened.

For the life of me I cannot find a lid closed line. I pulled from 03 October until today and did see a sleep occur on 03. I pasted this into a text editor to search for it, no luck. I tried to post all from 05 October until today but keep getting blocked for having links in my reply.

There are no links though… :frowning:
