Laptop keybindings working improperly

Hello everyone!
My hp probook 450 g6 keyboard has two screen brightness control buttons(for increasing and decreasing) and mute microphone button but all of them do the same thing - mute microphone.
Changing keyboard layout and keyboard model from settings doesn’t work. How can I fix this problem?
Thanks in advance

You can use xbindkeys to make it explicit what those key stroke do as shown here: Xbindkeys - ArchWiki.

  1. Indentify your key codes by running xbindleys --key
  2. Make an entry for these keys in ~/.xbindkeysrc:
"xdotool key XF86MonBrightnessUp"
    m:<state> + c:<keycode_brightness_up>
"xdotool key XF86MonBrightnessDown"
    m:<state> + c:<keycode_brightness_down>
  1. Update your changes xbindkeys

Also I’m pretty sure you can simply bring up ‘shortcuts’ from the menu - I searched brightness and found where I can input key presses for Decrease keyboard/screen brighness.

Weird result after trying to identify key code by using xbindkeys --key: pressing my brightness up/down or mute microphone keys gives back nothing :smiley: :smiley: I mean in case of other keys I get particular m:<> + c:<> combinations

I’ve tried changing shortcuts but it fixes problem partially;

I had the same problem. This page suggested a bios update would solve it, so I tried but it didn’t change anything.
