Laptop doesn't suspend

The issue is two part. When I close the lid, the laptop doesn’t suspend; I can see it still connected to my phone and sometimes the screen stays on. When I suspend using the power button or the menu, it suspends, but I can’t wake it. I have to force a shutdown.

Upgrade to 5.14 or even 5.15 branch, reboot boot from new one and test.

It still doesn’t appear to be suspending. It looks like it does. The power light flashes, the fan shuts off, the screen shuts off, but it’s still connected to my phone (GSConnect). Is there any way to see if it actually is or not?
I’m on 5.14.10-1-MANJARO now.

Have you gotten suspend to work? I’m thinking about buying the Q408.
Have you had problems with any other aspect of this laptop, like the headphone jack or MicroSD reader?

I’ve been waiting to respond to make sure, but it seems to actually work now. I used the kernel mentioned above and upgraded the BIOS as well. As far as other issues, Disabling touchpad while typing doesn’t work and the microphone doesn’t work. I’ve posted the former issue here on the forum, but haven’t received any suggestions yet. I’ll post the other now. I usually use my earbuds when listening or talking on my laptop; so, I’m not sure about the jack. I also haven’t used the SD card slot yet either. I can test them though if I remember.

For me, suspend is less important than the other things. When I ran Linux on a Macbook Pro I never got suspend to work but that was fine because I always powered down when I wasn’t using the computer.

The most important items for me are:

  • Does the keyboard work during boot up? That’s when I’d enter my LUKS password to unlock the hard drive. There’s a workaround on the Arch Linux Wiki in case the keyboard doesn’t work.
  • Does the headphone jack work for playing and recording? That’s what I primarily use.
  • Does brightness control work OK, either via dropdown menu or the Fn keys?
  • Does the MicroSD card work? I’ll have to use it, if I don’t upgrade the M.2.
  • How is the hard drive performance? People say it’s necessary to upgrade.
  • Did you try getting dual boot with Windows working?
  • Lastly, is HDMI working for you?

It does and I didn’t have to do anything to get it to work.

For playback, yes, recording, I’m not sure and don’t have a mic to test with, sorry.
