kworker use 100% cpu maybe cause iwlwifi driver

when I log in immediately kworker process start and max an core if my cpu.
I think is cause by iwlwifi drivers because sometimes I'm not able to connect to wifi and the cpu is ok.
If I boot manjaro with fallback initramfs kernel most of the time is ok, but sometimes the problem remains.
I install different kernels (linux54, linux56) , every time I turn on my pc I try all boot options until there are no problems.
There is a solution?
Thank you in advance.

The solution would seem to be to use a kernel that doesn't exhibit this issue.

but every times is a different kernel.
try all the kernels every times for me is not a solution, the problem remains.

Try installing an older version of the linux-firmware from your package cache. That is assuming you haven't deleted your cache.

If changing to an older firmware does not improve matters then you should test different iwlwifi driver options:

Test all of the options, but I have the feeling disabling the N band may be the setting that could help you.

I downgrade the linux-firmware package but isn't change anything.
so i try dmesg command

Did you test the iwlwifi driver options. I found a post with 100% CPU usage with kworker that was fixed by changing the iwlwifi driver options.

yes i try, I have to reboot for every options?

You can try something like the commands from @tbg's linked post to unload the module and reload it after fiddling with it's options.
Reboot is fine as well.

Actually rebooting after running those commands will clear/wipe the new driver options. If you want the driver options to survive a reboot you will need to create the driver options file:

/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

This conf file needs to contain whichever driver option improves your issue.

I try all commands but they didn't work for me. Now all kernel options have the problem.

(1

Have you tested one of the real time kernels?

Have you tested any of the older kernels such as 4.19 or 4.14?

(2

Also, is your bios up to date. If not, you should seriously consider updating it.

Otherwise you should reset your bios to the factory defaults to be sure a bios setting is not causing this issue.

(3

Have you tried booting from any live environments to see if the problem is present?

Boot some different Manjaro DE's from a live disk to see if this is still happening. Note the kernel version and linux-firmware in use on and live disk where this problem is not present.

(4

You did not state if this was a new install or if this problem only started recently after an update. Was your install working correctly before? If so, which update created this issue?

(5

Is your wifi card easily accessible? Perhaps consider removing the wifi adapter temporarily to confirm or rule out that your wifi adapter is truly causing this problem.

1 yes I'm using 4.19 version, and in real time kernel the problem remain.
2 my bios is up to date but dmidecode command show bios upgradable.
3 i try to booting form live usb and the cpu is ok with version
linux-firmware 20200519.r1641.8ba6fa6-1
manjaro-firmware 20160419-1
the same that I use in my pc.
after I booting from usb, I turn on my pc and it had no problems until after boot, I'm confused..
4 before I was using ubuntu 18.04. it work fine
5 I can remove wifi but is hard, I try if it's the only way.
in dmesg command outputs, when the cpu is 100%

[ 2.632955] usb usb1-port13: over-current condition
[ 2.846288] usb usb1-port14: over-current condition

in live usb not show these errors .

This is a rather important question that needs to be answered fully. Your answer is insufficient to diagnose the cause of your issue.

Please answer the following questions:

Did you have Manjaro installed and working correctly before this issue started?

If you had Manjaro working correctly, then:

Did the issue begin after performing a Manjaro system update?

If this began after a system update, which update (specific date) created this issue?

Did the problem possibly begin after changing some system configuration settings?

Did the problem begin, after installing any new software?

I'm not sure if you have tlp installed, but if you do then let's test to see if tlp is causing this by disabling tlp temporarily.

To prevent tlp from starting it can be masked:

sudo systemctl mask tlp && sudo systemctl mask tlp-sleep.service

Reboot, then test if the problem persists.

If there is no improvement by preventing tlp from starting, then simply reverse the changes by unmasking tlp.

To re-enable tlp:

sudo systemctl unmask tlp && sudo systemctl unmask tlp-sleep.service

Then restart.

Create a new user account and then log in as the new user. Test if the same issue persists under this new user account.

Please reply to all questions, and report on the results of my other troubleshooting suggestions.

sudo systemctl mask tlp && sudo systemctl mask tlp-sleep.service

after running this command, everything went back to normal. Thanks so much for your help.

Tlp is not required on a desktop, so if you want you can simply uninstall tlp.

Glad that solved your issue.

.. but only works with the kernel before the 4.19 version

Tlp seems to have many bugs, especially I/O related bugs with kernels above 4.14.

I'm actually mind boggled by how many threads I've worked on that tlp has been responsible for creating problems. This thread is a prime example. There was nothing in particular that pointed towards tlp being part of the problem. I simply know how often tlp seems to be creating problems these days, and now routinely suspect it as a contributing factor. So, more and more I'm simply suggesting disabling tlp as a general troubleshooting measure.

It's rather surprising how often disabling or uninstalling tlp results in resolving many seemingly unrelated problems. You'd never normally suspect a power management utility could be responsible for creating so many diverse problems.

another strange thing is if i remove tlp the problem return, is ok only if I don't start it with your command.

Now that is strange.
