Kmail: how to rename server name?

For some reason kmail has renamed several of my email account server names to “IMAP E-Mail Server” which is both inconvenient and impractical as now kmail displays me a list of several same name preventing me from knowing which server is which.

there is no obvious place or way to rename those server name.

account name are properly set but not reflected in the server name which seems to be set to the default value for 6 accounts but not the rest.

I finally found how to fix this.

Settings > Configure Kmail > Accounts

go to the the receiving tab

double click the server name or select it and click the modify button

this open the IMAP account settings, go to general tab.

in the account information section go to account name.

account is already set to the proper value, unset it by changing the name to whatever, click ok

reopen the IMAP account settings which is now set to whatever, change it back to the proper value. click ok.

and now kmail shows the proper name instead of the default value.

for some reason on the next reboot, 3 servers went back to the default name and I had to do this rename dance again.
