Anyone else having this problem?

I suspect it’s to do with nvidia but don’t know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

@donald

If you would like to give detail that is useful for those who might wish to offer assistance, please provide your system information as described (below).

I’m sure someone will help when they are able.

Regards.

Welcome to the Manjaro community

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit.

To that end, links are provided (below) - Please use them.

Be prepared to provide outputs from various commands when asked. It’s equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Waiting for others to blindly ask questions can be counter-productive – typically, nobody has a :crystal_ball: at their disposal – Instead, please help others to make informed suggestions, based on information you provide.

[details=“Update Announcements” open]

The Update Announcements contain important information and a Known Issues and Solutions section that should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form (preferred):

inxi -zv8

I have searched the forum but can’t find anything relating to this.

Neither can I, however, searching for segmentation fault (core dumped) reveals many instances; this isn’t overly helpful, though.

Please add more information for others to work with.

For example;

When the issue started, whether it was after any specific event – after installing something unrelated; after a certain update was performed; after a hard reset or shutdown; etc.

Please tell us the results of your own troubleshooting. Does the issue persist – in a fresh User account?; when reverting to another kernel - 6.12 (LTS); after switching to Wayland (recommended).

Have you made any hardware or configuration changes prior to noticing the issue? Have you ruled out possibly bad RAM as the culprit?

Regards,

The issue started some time ago but I don’t use the khelpcenter often so thought I’d just wait and see if anyone else reported it or it dissapeared after a system update.

It does persist in a fresh user account.

I had previously searched the internet for the error message but not got anywhere.

I have just found a post on the KDE [KMail Crashes when started] which gives a workaround that seems to work for khelpcenter as well
as follows-

env MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=“llvmpipe” khelpcenter                                                                                               ─╯
glx: failed to create dri3 screen

GBM is not supported with the current configuration. Fallback to Vulkan rendering in Chromium.
 View::langLookup "kdoctools6-common/kde-default.css"
 View::langLookup "khelpcenter/glossary/index.docbook"
libva error: /usr/lib/dri/nouveau_drv_video.so init failed

this only seems to work from konsole and not from kde menu settings?

Issue still exist with kernel 6.1.2

I switched to the propriety nvidia graphics driver and it doesn’t crash!
I don’t know if this should be reported somewhere but it works for me.
thanks for the help

If for nothing else, at least your resolution is here for others to try, if they find themselves in a similar situation.

It’s good to know you found a workaround.

Regards.

It was kernel 6.12 (LTS) that was suggested, although 6.6 (LTS) and 6.1 (LTS) are certainly available.

Sorry I meant 6.12 LTS. It must have been too late at night :roll_eyes:
