Keyboard not working after suspend

This has been plaguing me for a while, it started either after upgrade to linux410 or linux49. After I restore my laptop from suspension, the keyboard is not working; touchpad works fine. I start my Openbox session manually by issuing startx from TTY and suspend it using systemctl suspend. My configuration.

I found one topic which suggests using

sudo modprobe -r uhci_hcd
sudo modprobe uhci_hcd

but that does not help.

I also found another topic but that is not relevant since I do not use mate.

cat ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log after resuming from suspension

Interestingly, the keyboard comes alive when I press Caps Lock key or Num Lock key on the onboard virtual keyboard. No new messages in either log.

It is still happening with kernel 4.11.

If you have tlp.service running, try look at the setting in /etc/default/tlp.
Or google linux keyboard freeze when wake.

$ systemctl status tlp
Unit tlp.service could not be found.

Googling does not seem to find any solutions for any permutation of “linux keyboard freeze when wake”.
