I have mucked up my installation quite hard.
3 days ago in a vein attempt to get a gui for my wacom tablet, features have broken.
I will describe in detail what i did .
Before this fiasco I was running manjaro with xfce no issues at all.
The issues after i face installing this package Wacom Tablet KCM
After reboot I got the error message that lightdm failed.
Following that I removed and reinstalled the following things
I reinstalled Xorg I believe
XFCE and light dm
I removed light dm because xfce was not showing up in the bottom right for a selection
I then installed lxdm and attempted to configure it using the wiki
The issue that I face now , is that lxde “loads” and i get the prompt and a selection for XFCE
I then attempt to sign in, the page changes for a split second and then loops back to the LXDE login
Conceptually I am trying to use LXDM with XFCE as I had issues before. any insights are appreaciated
kcm-wacomtablet is a package that depends on plasma-workspace so when you installed that, sddm was installed too from the lost list of dependencies … hence you had two Dysplay Managers, and none can start because of the other. When you uninstalled lightdm probably also removed other packages that make XFCE work, whyle by installing lxdm you had no proper switch to it, but also sddm was still trying to load in the same time with lxdm …
You have to follow the LXDM Configuration - Manjaro
A quick search in the forum about xfce and UI configurator for tablet, would have revealed you at least this

I fully understand that now after the aches and pains it caused.
I did follow the wiki’s config instructions for setting up lxdm and commenting the right things in. But I am still unable to get through to the XFCE4 Desktop.
“packages that make XFCE work” when i did the reninstall is it possible that it nuked the configurations needed by manjaro to start up? And if so is there a resource that i can use to find the locations . And compare it to a good installation i have. Repaving this system isnt possible because i have apps that required pv, which i no longer have the numbers to.
Not sure if in your process you did not had to remove the manjaro-xfce-settings and installed the package for kde … Those two can’t reside together. Try to reinstall the default one for xfce, remove sddm, also worth taking another look at the video drivers, in case you need the proprietary nvidia ones. As long as you have access to the TTY and internet connection works, the system should be salvageable. Try to share some logs and the errors you get when trying to load the desktop.
This should help How to provide good information and once you share that information, someone might have a solution.
Funny enough that package was there. When chrooted in I got the error:failed to synchronize all databases (unable to lock databases).This was when i was attempting to reinstall the manjaro-xfce-settings as you stated to check out. . After retrieving the necessary logs on the machine. these are the logs

I also retrieved the xorg logs if needed.
Once out of the chroot, I booted back to the system that is unable to fully login . Got into tty and proceded to remove that manjaro-xfce-settings to renistall it. Ran into the error

Removed the file suggested in the error and the resolved the issue with pacman not being able to remove packages.
The sddm service does not exist also.
Still unable to get past the lxdm login loop to get into xfce.
