After installing new widget screen goes black and can only see cursor and konsole (im new)

Hello, this is my first time posting and I am also new to Linux. But recently I was trying to customize my desktop with some new widgets and after installing one and placing it on my desktop my screen has gone all black except for my cursor and konsole. (I unfortunately completely forgot the name of the widget, but it was supposed to show the images of albums from songs playing on spotify) I have tried researching some fixes but none have seemed to have any solution. I was able to launch startx which is something I read in a forum and it works, I’m not sure what I can do from here.
any help would be appreciated thank you.

Rename (or remove) plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc – that should reset your desktop to default:

mv ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc.bak
