KDE: Lock screen not working

Recently, I noticed the auto-lock feature in KDE desktop has stopped working for some reason. I can still lock the computer manually but it’s like it never detects inactivity…
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thank you!

Hi @Razcoina, and welcome!

I have it set and working perfectly here. Make sure you have the correct settings in System SettingsWorkspaceWorkspaceWorkspce behaviousScreen Locking:

And remember to Apply the settings after they’ve been changed.

Hope it helps!

Hello, thank you for your response.

I had it set up exactly like that. The problem is that even with those settings, auto lock simply does not happen. I even changed the delay to 1 minute to test and nothing…
Something to be noted is that if I lock the computer using the default keyboard shortcut, it locks. It just doesn’t do so after inactivity.

Then I’ve got to say:

:man_shrugging:

Sorry.

:sob:

Some apps can block sleep and screen locking if they are playing some contents:

Ok, I was not aware of this, thanks! I found that steam is blocking the computer from sleeping…
I’ll see what I can do

For Firefox even if a video is playing I simply minimize its window and it stops blocking screen locking, it’s like the system detects you are not personally watching the playing content and forces sleeping and screen locking. But for music players, you need to manually pause them to prohibit them from blocking screen locking.

I think the behavior is totally correct, because even if no inputs are detected for a certain period of time, it’s not logical to lock screen while you are playing a game, or watching a movie, or listening to music, or streaming or doing an online interview.

Alright, I think this solves the issue. Thank you!
