JOSM release cycles

I would like to understand the release cycles in MANJARO: For example JOSM (Java-based OpenStreetMap- Editor

  • MANJARO repository provides version 18463, dated 2022-05-29,
  • the actual one is 18570.

Due to some bugs in the old one (which have been fixed quite a while ago), I’m waiting for an actualization. I managed to download and run a josm-tested.jar, but I’m interested to learn about the delay.

Hi @MaMicha,

While I’m not sure, I think it just became outdated because the package maintainer doesn’t have time anymore. But, as I said, I’m in no way sure.

Nevertheless, I see multiple packages, both in the AUR as well as thee community repository when searching for josm:

$ pamac search josm

It would seem the one in the AUR is newer:

vs

So, you could always try the AUR version:

pamac build josm-stable

Hope it helps!

P.S.: I don’t know if we need to ping someone from @Manjaro-Team or even @jarodlau (I hope I’m right about that.) Perhaps one of the @moderators will know.

The josm package is inherited from Arch Linux. It was flagged out of date as you can see here Arch Linux - josm 18463-1 (any)

Once is there with the new version, it will be in unstable first, then testing, then stable, but you could grab it from Arch repository too, if is not heavy dependent on other packages (i didn’t check).

Thank you. As I wrote, I’m using a workaround actually.
I hope, that there will be an actualization in ARCH soon. Is there a possibility to nudge the process or is this already done by “Flagged out-of-date” (which has been done already in July 2022).
