January 2026 system update and NVIDIA GeForce 930M graphics

Hi.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P-50-C laptop with Optimus graphics (Intel i915 and NVIDIA 930M) which I manage with switcheroo-control.

The January 2026 system update upgraded the NVIDIA components to version 590 which doesn’t support the 930M. I successfully downgraded to the 470xx version of the NVIDIA components.

The 570xx series will also work with the 930M but there’s no libxnvctrl-570xx package available so I elected to downgrade to the 470xx series which does have it.

Is the non-availability of libxnvctrl-570xx an error or would it be possible to use libxnvctrl-470xx with the 570xx series components?

TIA, Neil Darlow

I think the primary reason lies in the fact that Manjaro has opted to not provide 580xx as Nvidia Legacy branch, but instead uses 575xx.

I must admit that I am not sure of this.

But I know that @philm may be able to provide some insights.

Unfortunately, libxnvctrl-575xx isn’t available. Only 390, 470 and 590 are provided.

Thank you to the unsung hero who initiated the making available of libxnvctrl on the driver series which didn’t have it. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Regards, Neil Darlow

That should be @Yochanan
