So I ended up swapping my GTX 970 with my older GTX 760 and no issue with playing a game. I played a game for around an hour just fine.
Capacitors fail sometimes. Around 2 years ago I bought a 2nd handed gfx card (don’t remember which one - actually, I switched it for a car stereo system I had for years, just taking space). The guy warned me the card just stopped working sometimes and displayed a black screen or color stripes. I took the risk, only to find out it worked perfectly, as long as the load was low enough. As soon as it was loaded with heavy stuff, it would go down in a matter of seconds.
