suddenly i r un into issues - the system (Manjaro 18xy ) does not boot any more .

You really should update your system more regularly.

You can resolve this by running:

sudo pacman-mirrors -f3
sudo pacman -Syyuu

You may need to use a chroot to let you run those on the installed system.
