Is there a way to turn off my display without having the OS notice and remove it?

PC is at home, always on. Connected to one 27’’ computer display and to the TV.

I can switch between profiles with autorandr just fine when I want to play on the TV, work on the 27’’ or have both.

What I want is this: is it possible to select a profile, let’s say the 27’’ monitor, then leave, turn it off and log in remote desktop from work having it still as the active monitor in my OS?

Asking because most of the times nomachine gives me the “no display is attached, I’ll spin my own” message and I am 100% sure that until some time ago I got the 27’’ display resolution when remoting the desktop from work. I want to be able to log in to the same X session that I left.

Maybe an X setting, or an udev rule?
