Is there a mode type display in gnome

Having switched from i3 to gnome, I was wondering If there was a similar solution to the i3 mode display, where I can have it do certain things based on shortcut keys

All DEs have shortcuts, for different workflows. I guess by your description you want tiling enabled. Pop-shell extension, installed by default, would give more or less same tiling experience as on i3wm …

Pop-shell extension has this functionality

That’s quite neat. I will check that out, but what I wanted was the shortcut mode display. Meaning if I were to click a shortcut key, it would show a little box at the top left like i3, where I could then press another key to complete the shortcut. Sort of like when you press, $mod + 0, it gives you the ability to shut down, restart etc.
