I have a weird problem with the disks and devices applet on plasma 6.3.6 (the current plasma edition on stable). As soon as I put a cdrom in the tray, the corresponding entry appears twice in the applet. This would not be by itself a big issue. The problem is that when I remove the cdrom, one of the two entries stays there. This causes the applet to stay alive in the tray, that is distracting. Furthermore, the entry that remains alive is clearly non-functional. At this point “replacing” the plasma shell (plasmashell --replace) fixes the issue.
Is it only me or are others experiencing the same problem with plasma 6.3.6?
Now, it is clear that plasma 6.3 has reached the end of its life, but it might be staying with us for a few days more. Furthermore, if the problem comes from some local config, it would be nice to know, to avoid seeing it again with plasma 6.5.
It’s actually working fine. I connect and remove my tablet many times a day without any issues. It (both, actually) shows and disappears automagically.
If you are referring to the applet in the system tray, then yes, it does contain a number of bugs. I’m not seeing the exact same thing as what you’re describing, but it definitely does not behave as it should.
I have found that right-clicking the system tray to bring up its configuration, and then temporarly disabling the “Disks & Devices” icon — followed by a click on Apply, of course — and then re-enabling it clears out the misbehavior. Or at least, until the next time you insert an optical disk or plug in a USB stick…
