irq/184-AudioDS high CPU usage

I have received a laptop from my wife as a gift, Acer Swift.
The battery is supposed to be very good.

Upon installation of Manjaro it seemed that way.

However, day by day I am noticing the battery life is already shortening in alarming ways.
First it lasted around 9h, then 5, now it says the battery will last for 3 hours.

irq/184-AudioDS

is always around 10% of processor usage.
It is beyond me how to tackle the issue :frowning:

Please help good people

A good way to start investigating is to know

and share that information with us.

Meanwhile, if you want to go ahead, have a look at Acer Swift 5 - ArchWiki as an example of required kernel boot parameters.
A similar issue was reported on Ubuntu Bug #1943392 “irq/174-AudioDS causing high cpu load since 20.04....” : Bugs : Ubuntu

Install more kernels and test them too.
Here Laptop/Acer - ArchWiki is another, more general resource for Acer laptops …

And now the errors.

What I have done so far is to switch from Kernel 5.10 to 5.15 and the battery seems to have regained its original true potential. I have to make more tests…

Oh boy oh boy so far so bumpy
On 5.15 the ethernet breaks up
On 5.10 the battery dwindles
On 5.4 and 4.9 errors, unbootable

/var/log/ should I paste it here?

try also with the 5.18 kernel …
logs post from this command:
journalctl -b0 -p4 --no-pager

Good people, I am working on it

did you tried the 5.18 kernel?

Here’s the thing…
When I try to install a new Kernel it gets stuck on the retrieving packages.
It keeps doing its thing, the installation process never ends.
Something must be seriously messed up.

try this:
sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu
then:
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux518
reboot and select it in grub menu

They used to teach me this…OMG, 6 years ago. I am so uneducated…

Now
journalctl -b0 -p4 --no-pager

?

do you still have high audio cpu usage with the 5.18?

Not any longer, at least as we speak.

Now I have to be observing the battery depletion stages and Ethernet break-ups oh boy

brahma, you are my brother!
