Inxi -Fazy says pipewire is running, but I cannot delete it as Add/Remove says it isnt installed?

Ill give it a go thx :slight_smile:

I’ll second what @banjo said. Go through your pipewire list and remove any aur/git packages. AFAIK it’s a very bad idea to have repo and aur versions of the same package installed on top of each other.

https://arcolinux.com/clean-up-your-computer-and-delete-the-pacman-cache/

Would running the -S and the -U command help? … Or does this link have nothing to do with what were are talking about?

Ill give that a goo too :slight_smile:

Thx for your help peeps … I let you know how it goes.

Enjoy your day :slight_smile:

first open the add/remove software click installed and foreign and post what you have installed here
or run this command:

you need to run system update… first remove the 513 kernel:
sudo pacman -R linux513

Ok … old kernel removed

Updated system …

Its saying I gotta reboot, but before I do that … Do I assume the route to take now would be to go back and remove any pipewire aur/git packages as you suggested before?

yes reboot … and you dont have the same aur and official repo packages, so dont need to remove anything

Ok, Thank you :slight_smile:

Gotta get my dinner on but will report back to advise what happened.

Thanks again for your time :+1:t2:

I wonder why do you need 90% of those packages…doubt you know either. AUR should be locked with password on Manjaro tbh. :smiley:

Yes that probably is a good idea :joy:

On the contrary tho … I do know why at least 50% of them are installed for … Gaming/emulation being the most prevalent … Im learning :slight_smile:

What a mess if misinformation.
@GCandy77 you should have done your due diligence and checked why pipewire package was installed on your system (what other package is requiring it):

$ pactree -r pipewire

This would have told you, kwin (an essential part of your KDE installation) is requiring pipewire-media-session and therefor pipewire … even if you’re still using pulseaudio as your audio server.

You can disable it’s socket/service as mentioned above - but you won’t be able to remove it (since that package is a requirement).

Its steam & Kwin :slight_smile: But thx for the handy command :+1:t2:

One last thing before I try to remove n re-install packages.

I had a suggestion Via a chap called Nayr438 on the LTT forums to run these commands (I trust this person and they have helped me a lot in the past)

sudo pacman -S wireplumber pipewire-pulse pipewire-jack pipewire-alsa pipewire gst-plugin-pipewire
&
sudo pacman -S lib32-pipewire-jack lib32-pipewire

[sudo] password for rob:

:: wireplumber and pipewire-media-session are in conflict

    ~  sudo pacman -S  lib32-pipewire-jack lib32-pipewire                                                                                  1 ✘  5s 

I said no to both of the requests as I wasnt to sure and I remember someone saying that pipewire-media-session was needed n to keep it. But I noticed “wireplumber” looked it up n found this that suggests that I should remove it as its not currently supported. Tbh I dont not remember installing Wireplumber?

Could this be the reason I cannot seem to use Pipewire properly or should I just stick with what was suggested by brahma before?

if you want to uninstall something, uninstall pulse and use pipewire
run this:
sudo pacman -S manjaro-pipewire
it will give you pulse dependency issues, so uninstall them first, then run again the command for installing pipewire, and choose wireplumber instead of pipewire session, then reboot

I was half way thru your suggestion before you added how to do it via terminal n I got these errors pop up …

I then saw your edit and went thru the process and got these errors this time

[sudo] password for rob:
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
:: manjaro-pipewire and manjaro-pulse are in conflict. Remove manjaro-pulse? [y/N] y
:: manjaro-pipewire and pulseaudio-zeroconf are in conflict. Remove pulseaudio-zeroconf? [y/N] y
:: pipewire-pulse and pulseaudio are in conflict. Remove pulseaudio? [y/N] y
:: pipewire-pulse and pulseaudio-bluetooth are in conflict. Remove pulseaudio-bluetooth? [y/N] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: removing pulseaudio breaks dependency 'pulseaudio=16.0-1' required by pulseaudio-jack
:: removing pulseaudio breaks dependency 'pulseaudio=16.0-1' required by pulseaudio-lirc
:: removing pulseaudio breaks dependency 'pulseaudio=16.0-1' required by pulseaudio-rtp

So I did what I thought would be the obvious next move (Remove pulseaudio-jack) n then got these errors … just to add to the pain :joy:

Should I say yes to these commands that were suggested to install pipewire on another forum to see what happens?

sudo pacman -S wireplumber pipewire-pulse pipewire-jack pipewire-alsa pipewire gst-plugin-pipewire
&
sudo pacman -S lib32-pipewire-jack lib32-pipewire

i told you to remove the pulse dependencies first:
sudo pacman -R pulseaudio-jack pulseaudio-lirc pulseaudio-rtp
sudo pacman -S manjaro-pipewire
reboot

You did … but I didnt know how to via terminal … My apologies & giving it a go soon :+1:
