Installing from usb, resolution stuck in 640x480 preventing installation

Hey all, I’ve been using Manjaro in a VM for a while but am encountering an issue preventing a hardware installation.

Native monitor resolution is 2560x1440 @ 144hz

When booting to the live USB, grub and most of the startup process displays fine until around the time the startup script finishes then the screen resizes to a tiny 640x480 box.

Can not continue with installation as the windows for calamaries are larger than 640x480 so I can not interact with the installation.

Display settings only show the option of 640x480 @ 60hz

If I had an actual installation I think I would try to add a 10_monitor.conf to the X11 conf but this is useless in my situation as I am still on the live USB ISO which is immutable.

Please help this is incredibly frustrating. Thank you.

I also think I may be able to manually set the output resolution via xrandr, unfortunately I am new to xrandr so my attempts so far to add a 2560x1440 output results in an out of range error, I must be doing it wrong.

Ok solved. Was on the right track with xrandr, solution was as follows:

xrandr --newmode "2560x1440R" 241.50 2560 2608 2640 2720 1440 1443 1448 1481 +hsync -vsync

xrandr --addmode DisplayPort-0 2560x1440R

From there use " xrandr – output" or select via GUI.
