Installation Failed on Manjaro KDE 20.0.3

Hello,

I had posted a topic about the installation error on the previous forum, but there was a technical problem that prevented any further replies, so I am creating a new topic here.

I downloaded the ISO image for Manjaro KDE 20.0.3 from the Manjaro website, which appears to still be the newest version. I then used Balena Etcher to etch the ISO image (designed for a disc) to a SanDisk Ultra USB drive. From there, I changed the boot priority settings in the firmware so that it would boot from the USB drive (Manjaro) before Windows 7 on the HDD. I used the Calamares graphical installer to install Manjaro by repartitioning the HDD.

After the installation was unsuccessful the first time (Installation Failed: Boost.Python error in job “bootloader”), I shut down the live session of Manjaro and entered the firmware settings. There were no legacy boot settings that I could find in there, so I restarted Manjaro on the USB. After Manjaro was restarted, it was able to recognize the partition on the HDD that had been created from the previous failed installation, so I selected that partition and instructed the installer to replace it with a new partition. However, the installation was unsuccessful again with the same error. I don’t have a copy of the screenshot anymore and it appears broken in the previous thread, but I could capture another screenshot if necessary.

Could downloading a firmware update for the BIOS/UEFI possibly resolve the issue? This is an Acer Aspire V5-571 with a Hitachi HTS545050A7E380 hard disk drive.

Looking forward to your reply. Thank you! :sparkling_heart:

We have the much newer 20.1-rc4 ISO, which is based on yesterdays stable update. You may try again, but start Calamares in debug mode:

sudo -E calamares -d

Then use pastebin or similar service to post the full log and link it here. We can then try to find a solution for your problem.

Hi! I am glad that you are here.

I restarted Manjaro on the USB and then repeated the installation process using the command that you suggested. I copied the output from the terminal and uploaded it to Pastebin. When I scrolled to the top of the terminal, it seemed as if it was not displaying the log from the very beginning, so hopefully you don’t need this information.

Thank you!

Have a nice day and thank you!

install failed because
you start in UEFI USB iso manjaro ( see UEFI & efibootmgr -v returns )
but your disk is MBR

for any install in UEFI , disk have to be in GPT
and this require a /boot/efi fat32 partition with flag boot & esp

for GPT disk , if you want to keep windows ,
do first a backup data and you need USB windows for repair
convert MBR to GPT , and repair boot entry windows

after you will install in EFI manjaro

or you want to go in UEFI[legacy] ( activate CSM )
and restore Grub by Chroot

Ошибка установки boost.python bootloader на Manjaro KDE Plasma 20.0.3

У меня была та же проблема! Но у меня диск в GPT.
Я решила ее новой загрузкой образа через торрент и прожгла заново, но уже на другую флешку.

I’ve had the same damn error yesterday! But, my disk is GPT.
I solve this problem with new dowloaded .torrent file and burned ISO on another usb-stick.
