OK, I’m out of ideas. Sorry!
that’s okay, but is there any chance you can guess what the problem actually is?
a Driver? Or something completely different.
any chance that installing bedrock to get drivers could work?
i was looking at something last night related to ubuntu-specific commands… it was late so i dont remember a lot but it seemed like it would fit at the time
If you can get the website, perhaps we can look? But I, personally, have no idea.
i believe only pipewire is on my laptop right now, as pulseaudio itself doesnt seem to be installed
i’d like to ask something else though, lookign online many people are talking about the snd_hda_intel driver, not the one that my system apparently uses:
Audio:
Device-1: Intel Comet Lake PCH-LP cAVS vendor: QUANTA
driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-cnl
alternate: snd_hda_intel,snd_soc_skl,snd_sof_pci_intel_cnl bus-ID: 00:1f.3
chip-ID: 8086:02c8 class-ID: 0401
Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k5.15.7-1-MANJARO running: yes
Sound Server-2: JACK v: 1.9.19 running: no
Sound Server-3: PulseAudio v: 15.0 running: no
Sound Server-4: PipeWire v: 0.3.40 running: yes
is there a way to set snd_hda_intel as the driver in use, as opposed to sof-audio-pci-intel-cnl?
i found this… although i fear its of no use to me, since when i used pulseaudio i would only get a dummy output
ive got a matebook k14 with an intel i5, and every distro ive tried so far doesnt recognize its internal sound card, manjaro included, and i only get dummy output. i have already installed sof-firmware and tried pulseaudio -k. here are some outputs:
aplay -l
aplay: device_list:274: no soundcards found…
part of inxi -F:
Audio:
Device-1: Intel Comet Lake PCH-LP cAVS driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-cnl
Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k5.15.7-1-MANJARO running: yes
Sound Server-2: PulseAudio v: 15.0 running: yes
Sound Server-3: PipeWire v: 0.3.40 running: yes
i cant think of anything else to fix this, but if its any worth, the sound driver used to be something along the lines of snd_hda_intel yesterday… i have done nothing to change this, at least not knowingly
im new to linux so i’d appreciate any extra help with commands and such

please let me know if i need to do anything else
sof firmware is installed for sure, but how do i choose only one? do i have to uninstall something?
nope. don’t uninstall anything as that can cause issues later. install manjaro-pipewire
and reboot. check inxi -A
to see if you have only pipewire running or not.
installed it, i think there’s more than one:
Audio:
Device-1: Intel Comet Lake PCH-LP cAVS driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-cnl
Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k5.15.7-1-MANJARO running: yes
Sound Server-2: PipeWire v: 0.3.40 running: yes
everything is fine.
alsa consists of a set of kernel drivers, an application programming interface (API) library and utility programs for supporting sound and don’t uninstall it unless you know what you are doing. pipewire is a server for handling audio and video streams.
nonetheless the most important thing is “is your audio working now?? ”
nope! but i think we’re one step closer, because going into the audio tab i no longer get dummy audio. instead, i get this:
i can’t switch the profile on, theres no selection for it
@rhea, please, don’t open a new thread to the same subject again - this is not helpful and against the forum rules.
update… my bluetooth earphones work. they werent made to connect to pcs so the sound is a little sketchy but they work, both for output and for input. i cant begin to imagine why or how
another update: i went to /etc/modprobe.d and created two files: alsa-base.conf and blacklist.conf
the contents of alsa-base.conf are:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0
and the contents of blacklist.conf are:
blacklist snd_soc_skl
and now, the audio tab looks like this:
i still get no output from any of these, though, at least none that i can hear; when i went to youtube and played some music it seemed like it registered as output (like… the little sound bar went up and down. yknow)
