If I timeshift my Linux sytem?

It took the whole 1 TB drive at install, but the actual data is WAY less, will the backup file be 1 TB or only as big as the space taken by the files. I should shrink root, but Linux may get messed up & if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it right? It seems to me a system backup would be much smaller.

timeshift is not about partition but about filse.

whether you resize your root or not restoring files makes no difference.

Be aware of the change of UUID when you change partition layout as this will most likely break your boot because the uuid of your root is no longer identical to the one in your fstab.
