Icons on the taskbar are not visible (drivers problem)

Hello, I have a problem with Manjaro KDE Plasma.
I installed a clean system, updated all the software through a proprietary application and included several effects on the desktop, for the beauty of the picture.
After 2-3 reboots, all the icons disappeared and the taskbar became one-color (just like a green rectangle below). Disabling the effects and returning the default settings did not solve the problem, so I thought it was a problem with the drivers, because 2 video drivers were disabled (which is strange, given that they were originally installed) after installing them, the system hung in console mode.
I tried reinstalling but it happened the second time.
Please tell me what can I do to prevent this from happening again.

My laptop model: Acer Aspire 5750g

I had the same problem. I installed downgrade that allowed me to downgrade kscreen and libkscreen to version 5.25.1.

sudo DOWNGRADE_FROM_ALA=1 downgrade kscreen libkscreen

Found the solution here.

Hope this works for you.

Another solution is downgrading plasma to 5.24.7 (Plasma “LTS”).

In my case, the problem arose when I had dual monitors set up.

I had the same issue (in a single monitor configuration - I mean, with only the laptop monitor and open drivers). The solution you proposed, @kippie worked also for me.
Thanks for the hint!
