Icons not consistent across DE

Hi,
I stumbled across an issue with icons. They’re inconsistent across DE.
Firefox Developer Edition’s icon looks like regular Firefox in ‘Window Buttons’ plugin as well as in ‘Alt+tab’ preview. Similar issue with VSCodium - different icons.
Plank and Whisker Menu show correct icons.

I’ve tried changing icon themes in settings->appearance but it doesn’t seem to change those icons (even after reboot).
I’ve looked for that green vscodium icon on my machine but the only icon i’ve got is the white/blue one.

I’m using Papirus-Dark icon theme.

Any advice ?

Thanks!!

There is a couple of files where icon sets are controlled - check the files to see if they are all pointing the same icon theme.

  • ~/.gtkrc-2.0
  • ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
  • ~/.config/qt5ct/qt5ct.conf
  • ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel.xml/xsettings.xml

Some times developers specify the icon directly in a resource file owned by the app. And as such it will not use the themed icons.

Apologies, I didn’t explain the issue properly.

Whisker menu, docky, desktop shortcuts show the same icon but different from xfce’s Window Buttons.

It looks like xfce uses some funky settings for assigning icons.
As you can see on the screenshot (imgur. com/a/eVv9U4w) icons in the top right corner of the window are the same as the ones used by Window Buttons.

Cheers!
