i3 18.1.0 calamares crashing on installation

I installed previous version of i3 few months ago, everything was perfect. Also Xfce, KDE and Gnome installation is working without flaw, but when I try to install i3 18.1.0 it crashes when I click "Install Now".

I am using the exact same ISO.

blkid: unknown file system type "" on "/dev/sda3"

This is my NTFS partition, I am using 3 other partitions for swap, / and /home.

This is what I got from fdisk -l. It seems weird to me.

Type W95 I do not know, if this the install partition maybe format with gparted to ext4 (btrfs)?

lsblk -f

But you wrote two times 18.01

Sorry mistake :slightly_smiling_face:

The partition is created with windows long ago, I am using Linux for one year almost, and keep it as storage.

sda3 is empty

Is this the partion to install?
If yes, format not in installer, do it with gparted , maybe you must install in live ISO.

Usually I install root on sda4 and home on sda2. Calamares worked with Xfce like that.

is the win storage?? yes

I never use different partition for / and /home maybe you take the wrong path in calamares?

Maybe @oberon know what the warning is?

Required settings.conf key oem-setup is missing.
21:44:06 [2]: WARNING: .. Required settings.conf key disable-cancel is missing.
21:44:06 [2]: WARNING: .. Required settings.conf key disable-cancel-during-exec is missing.

Yes. It was D:\ partition on Windows, and because it was full, I just continued using it like that.

I never use different partition for / and /home maybe you take the wrong path in calamares?

I tried to install i3 two weeks ago, but I had the same problem, and installed Xfce instead with same paths, same everything, without problem. Now I wanted to give i3 another try, but same error.

The ISO is from 20-09-2019??? My fault
I did not search but you are the first with this error?
Will see what oberon think about.

This iso.

can you please give FULL report from

sudo fdisk -l

Partition 3 does not start on physical sector boundary.
Partition table entries are not in disk order.

Its MBR. I had dual boot in the past, that is why I needed this extended partition.

I think the problem is not related to partitioning.
KDE Plasma 18.1.0 iso calamares also crash, with same output.
I had to install with KDE Plasma 18.0.4 iso, which installation works fine on my laptop.
