Welcome to the forum! :vulcan_salute:

The system won’t let you delete the kernel that’s currently in use. So you first have to install a new kernel, then reboot into the newly installed kernel, and only then can you uninstall the kernel that gives you problems.

Now, in order to reboot into a kernel with a lower version number than the one you boot up in by default, you have to select the “Advanced options for Manjaro Linux” in the GRUB boot menu and then select the kernel of your choice.

If you do not see the GRUB boot menu, then you must press Esc when the machine boots — there is a way to make the GRUB menu always be visible at boot time, but we’ll get into that later.

However, for now, I will recommend that you install an LTS kernel — those are more stable and they are maintained with security patches and bug fixes for several more years. It is always better to use an LTS kernel than to use a bleeding-edge kernel, because those are not mature yet, they may still lack certain features already present in the LTS kernels, and they also have a much shorter lifespan.

If you cannot fully boot with the current kernel, then I would advise you to boot up from the installer USB in live mode, open up a terminal, and then issue the following commands…

sudo su -
manjaro-chroot -a
pacman-mirrors -f 10 && pacman -Fy && pacman -Syyu
mhwd-kernel -i linux61
mhwd-kernel -r linux64
update-grub

The above commands will update your mirror list, download a new files list, update your system, and install the 6.1 LTS kernel. If you’d rather have an older LTS kernel, then I would advise substituting linux61 by linux515 in the command here-above.

Those commands will also take some time to complete, so don’t grow impatient and don’t hit the reset button. Let it all finish, no matter how long it takes. And once you’re done, you can safely reboot the system.

Try this for now. If you experience any other problems, then we’ll take it from there.

I started getting an eroor during start boot

What’s the difference between an eroor and an error?

The former is Australian and the latter is normal.

HA! I tried, I really did, but couldn’t help mysself.

We used to call them an Aurore. She was the assistant to the show host in a popular game show on TV.

The comand above will it just install LTS or on next boot will load LTS as default or just my latest one,or will it will just boot into my kernel if so i know how to install LTS the problem is that there is no way to to backword it in the grub i mean the grub after you boot, its instaled but the sistem is choosing the newest one by defoult which is stupidly done you shoud have the option to chose which kernel you want and on next boot to run the one you chose otherwise the option to install older ones from grub is usesles. THX FOR THE REPLY ARAGORN. Sorry if my english is not so good i am not english nor american so i dont give a s…t as long as the one helping me gets it.
PS:the system boots normaly and runs normaly so far but i woss woried along the long runn about crushing so i tought i shoud fix it before i get too much stuff set up on it and stored on it.

  • The commands will install the 6.1 LTS kernel and will remove the 6.4 kernel.

  • If you have more than one kernel installed, GRUB will remember which kernel you booted last and will set that as the default.

yea txh but not so much so i read the stuf you said again and i prety much undestoud that i woss f…ked and that i prety much had to do a good old window repair update from a cd or in my case a manjaro repare update i woss tring to avoide that because i had to download manjoaro again and make the boot usb again, so no thx i did manage to solve the problem through advance manjaro setings, yea its not esc not on my pc i just like prest esc, shift, and F8 same time dont know wich worked but one did so i selected the advanced option, and booted from the LTS KERNEL AND AFTER BOOT I GOT THE OPTION TO REMOVE THE NEWER KERNEL in the apps>setings>manjaro setings manager>kernel and i uninstaled the newer one hopefuly no more errors.
