I have to power off the computer twice before it will shut down.
I am also facing this phenomenon in the current Testing branch.
In my case, it is Cinnamon, not Gnome.
I think it will be cured naturally in time. I experienced the same condition for a few weeks in Q4 last year. I am not particularly worried about it.
Thanks for the reply. I’m not too worried either, not a serious issue by any means.

I don’t know if this will be helpful. I live in Testing branch.
I had decided to use only Kernel LTS this year, but I changed my mind.
The problem disappeared in 6.13. It may be a coincidence.
$ uname -r
6.13.1-2-MANJARO
Interesting, I’m using 6.6.74 right now but if the problem persists then I may switch it up. I don’t think it’s been happening anymore! Haven’t paid close enough attention XD
Thanks for the info!
I’ve got but on my main, it’s got 6.13.2-1-MANJARO-RPI5
on my pi,6.12.12-2-MANJARO
intel based system, with no shutdown issue.
Sounds very strange to me - the only reason I know of - which may cause slow shutdown is watchdog.
I have been through almost all kernels using Intel and AMD based systems - currently on linux-next (kernel.org).
I am reading dozens of topics lately - all referring to unexpected shutdowns and all with a common denominator - AMD APU or CPU.
@n_b is your system AMD APU based?
For AMD Ryzen systems I would suggest check the BIOS version in inxi -M
and BIOS updates on manufacturer’s website

Yes. I tried updating the BIOS but could never get it to work.
edit: I’d like to add that I messaged Gigabyte when I had this problem and they told me there was no point to updating the BIOS.
